M. Saif Islam received his MS and PhD degrees in electrical engineering from UCLA, in 1999 and 2001, respectively. Before joining UC Davis in 2004, he worked for Hewlett-Packard Laboratories, Gazillion Bits Inc. and SDL Inc./JDS Uniphase Corporation as a Staff Scientist, Senior Scientist and Post Doctoral Research Fellow. Currently, his main interests are in the areas of molecular electronics, incorporation of low-dimensional nanowires with conventional IC elements for nano electronic and photonic and biological applications, employing processes compatible with mass-manufacturing.
